Pelham Summerfest Kicks Off With Party in Peace Park

Pelham Summerfest kicks off in Peace Park on Thursday, July 18, for the first night of the 12th annual hometown community event.

Beginning at 4 p.m. guests can stop by the Pelham Farmers’ Market to see an array of vendors carrying fresh produce and local products.

The supper market opens at the same time, highlighting a wide variety of Niagara's culinary establishments, with favourites including tacos, pizza, popcorn, and desserts.

Craig McNair will welcome guests to the festival with live music beginning at 5:30, leading up to the concert in the bandshell.

“Each year, Pelham Summerfest returns bigger and better than before,” noted Festivals and Events Coordinator Lauren Phillips. “We’re excited to welcome visitors to four free days of family fun starting with the Summer Chill Series, Farmers’ Market, and Fonthill Bandshell performance on Thursday night.”

At 7 p.m. the Fonthill Bandshell concert begins, with the Welland Port Colborne Concert Association presenting Forever Young, a Rod Stewart tribute performance with the Chicago Transit Band.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to watch the performance, as there is limited seating available in Peace Park.  A beer and wine garden will be located in Peace Park during the Thursday event, and guests are reminded that wristbanding will be in effect throughout Pelham Summerfest.

A free shuttle service from the Meridian Community Centre and a bike valet service in Peace Park are available. Additional special event parking is available in designated lots near the festival.

Thursday’s Pelham Summerfest lineup and special event parking can be found online at pelhamsummerfest.ca.
